Sockets for the kitchen

FAQ about sockets in the kitchen
What diameter is required for the bore hole to fit BORA sockets?

All BORA universal sockets have a uniform panel bore hole diameter of 50 mm.

Where should sockets be placed in the kitchen?

Sockets should be placed near the worktop and within reach of electrical appliances. Avoid placing sockets right behind large appliances like refrigerators to make them easier to access and safer.

What front thickness is required to fit BORA sockets?

BORA sockets are only designed to be installed in kitchen cabinets with a front thickness of 10 mm to 30 mm.

How many sockets should a kitchen have?

The number of sockets required depends on the size of the kitchen and the number of electrical appliances. We recommend at least 17 sockets. In modern kitchens, 21 sockets is usually considered standard, while a comfortable design may include up to 28 sockets. We recommend integrating more sockets into your design, rather than resorting to multi-sockets, to reduce the risk of fire.

How do you install BORA sockets?

BORA sockets are installed from behind using the union nut and wave spring supplied with the socket.

How high should sockets be from the worktop?

Sockets should be installed 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) above the worktop. This height makes sense ergonomically and ensures appliances placed on the worktop can be used easily.
